Trained in self defense, woman claws man’s eye to escape sexual attack
A 22-year-old woman who took self defense classes in high school escaped a sexual attack today in Saratoga Springs, New York.
The woman was walking home when the suspect attacked from behind. He grabbed her hair with one hand and her groin with the other. Then he forced his mouth to hers.
According to published reports, the woman kicked, scratched and screamed for help. She also clawed the man’s eye, one of many “vital points” on the body that are prime targets in self defense training. (See post Hit where it hurts for self defense.) At that point she was able to wiggle away and run.
Local Police Chief Chris Cole said the victim made all the right moves.
“Sometimes it’s very easy to give up,” Cole said. “In that case, she feared for her life and did what she had to to get away.”
Exactly what her self defense training taught her to do.
